Classic Kitchen Style Ideas

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

You simply can't go wrong with a classic traditional style kitchen. The shaker will never go out of fashion! So, if you want a kitchen that you will never look back and say "What was I thinking?!" then the traditional shaker is for you...

There are lots of options within the style to make it a little bit special and more personal to your taste...

Tongue & Groove Panelling

A great way to add a subtle detail that makes a big difference to the overall look of your space. A very traditional option, perfect for farmhouse style kitchens!

Also a lovely addition when you have an island or peninsula panel facing an entrance to the room, creating an instant focal point.

Open shelving

Much like Marmite, you'll either love it or hate it! We think the extra dusting is a small price to pay for the overall benefits of open shelving.

Whether it's traditional chunky oak floating shelves, a wine rack or a book shelf...open shelving is a firm favourite in our designs! Instantly bringing in a touch of warmth - especially if you are choosing neutral colour tones in your space - with optional lighting as well.

Also a great way to personalise your room with colourful cook books, family photos, or foliage.

Sinks & Taps

Your choice of sinks and taps have a huge impact on the aesthetic of a kitchen - even within the shaker style. These elements can be the difference between achieving a modern vs a traditional look and feel. Within traditional kitchens in general, you will often find soft or rounded edges. Whether it be on the worktops, the furniture or a swan neck tap.

The Belfast Sink is a classic kitchen staple! Instantly creating that farmhouse vibe, especially when sitting upon a block of chunky oak and paired with a beautiful tap.

Feature Posts

Soften a return, frame a feature or make your island stand out with our round or square posts. Instantly adding a touch of class and creating a focal point. Pair this with our forward mounted traditional plinths to create an ultra classic feel. Ask us about this at your design meeting and we can show you the different options which are on show at The Barn by Moulton Kitchens.

Mantles

We often build our designs around existing features such as chimneys. A great way of personalising them to your taste is with a mantle. Go with solid timber to match your existing beams or choose a painted option to match your kitchen furniture.

Don't have a chimney? Fear not! We can build a false chimney as part of your new design. Add a little nook for spices or oils to complete the look.
